Plans have changed… for now.

My name is Paul. I am twenty four and this is my life.

I have one target in mind for this. To keep an up to date portfolio of things I do, things I like and things I don’t like. Well done, Paul. You’ve successfully described a blog.

I do athletics and that’s going to be the main theme for this blog. My distance is 800 and 1500-meters. Currently I run about a 2.05 minute 800 – which isn’t entirely accurate because I haven’t ran a race in over three years – and a four minute something 1500.

I’m back running under the wing of my long time coach and athletics guru, Mike Tobin, at Craughwell A.C. At this moment in time, my progress has been halted by an injury. The groin muscles in my right leg have been put under too much stress and as my physio suggested, I’ve been resting for the past five days. So, I’ll give you an insight to the type training I’ve been doing.

For the most part it’s been 30 minute runs to get my legs back in shape and to wake up the long dormant memory of my muscles. Once a week, there would be a speed which consisted of 6 or 7 200 meter distances at my 800 meter race pace. The day that my leg gave out, I had done two sessions for the first time since I came back and that was clearly the problem. It didn’t feel as though I was pushing hard but I guess you don’t have to bust a gut to reek the benefits and know you’re doing well, but once I felt that twinge we all dred, I stopped what I was doing and headed home to stretch and roll.

Stretching and rolling is part of my daily routine, either before or after work , I do the regular stretches we all do, with the addition of core stretching. Right now, that’s what I’ve got to focus on. Which is why I’ll be starting yoga once I’ve got my core strengthened and stretched. One way I was told, was spinning classes.

More about myself, to come.
